Polygon has its own consensus
Distinguish local execution from Ethereum checkpoints.
An Ethereum connection does not make every connected network an Ethereum rollup.
- Bor produces blocks
- Heimdall consensus and milestones
- Checkpoints on Ethereum
Two cooperating layers
Polygon PoS uses Bor for block production and Heimdall for consensus-related work. Its validators operate Polygon's network. Ethereum checkpoints connect parts of its state history to Ethereum.
Use the right security description
Local transaction finality and Ethereum checkpointing are different stages. Read Polygon PoS's own architecture and bridge rules rather than assuming the same mechanics as Base or Arbitrum One.
Trace the roles
Use the official overview and paper.
- Write Bor and Heimdall in separate boxes.
- Add Ethereum as a third box.
- Label the checkpoint connection.
The connection does not replace Polygon's own consensus.
Use the network's specific security model.
