Read a message and its fee
Separate transaction gas from token amounts and identify the fee network.
A transaction can contain messages such as a transfer or delegation. The fee pays for processing them.
Gas measures work
Cosmos SDK transactions use a gas limit and a fee. Gas consumed describes processing work; it is not the amount of the asset being sent. A wallet may estimate gas before signing. Read the current estimate, the fee denomination and the included messages together instead of assuming every transaction has the same cost.
Fees belong to a particular chain
Cross-chain fee tooling looks up fee assets and gas prices by chain ID. Having ATOM on Cosmos Hub does not establish that a destination-chain action can be paid from the same balance. Before a route, check each network's accepted fee asset and where that balance must exist. Do not assume ATOM pays every Cosmos transaction.
Read one public Hub transaction
Open an explorer linked by the Hub documentation. Do not connect a wallet.
- Confirm that the page shows Cosmos Hub and record a public transaction hash.
- Find its message types, status, fee denomination and gas fields.
- Write the token amount and transaction fee on separate lines; leave unavailable fields marked unknown.
A public transaction can teach the signing checklist without sending one.
Read the messages, gas and fee denomination on the exact network.
