Distinguish a wallet from the network and its apps.
The button you press is the start of a process, not the entire Ethereum system.
- Dapp proposes action
- Wallet requests authorization
- Ethereum executes contract
Ethereum runs shared programs
Ethereum is a blockchain that supports smart contracts. These programs act on network state. ETH is its native asset; an application's token is a separate object.
The interface has a narrower job
A wallet helps you access an account and authorize actions. A dapp presents an application interface. Neither a wallet's appearance nor a dapp's popularity establishes that its contract is safe.
Sort the labels
Use a paper diagram only.
- Write wallet, network and application on separate cards.
- Place ETH beside the network.
- Place a swap button beside the application.
An application's promises are separate from network mechanics.
Check the network and contract behind the interface.
