Distinguish creating wallet keys from activating an onchain account.
Freighter is a Stellar wallet example. The course does not require an XLM purchase or deposit.
Create and privately back up the wallet
Install through Freighter's official links and choose Create a new wallet. Set and confirm a password, read the recovery warning, then privately preserve the phrase and complete the requested word check. Unlock the wallet using its local authentication. Stop before the guide's Fund your account section. Never give recovery words to a course, dapp or supposed helper.
Keys and ledger accounts are different
Generating an address does not create a funded ledger account. Minimum native balance and subentry requirements apply to activation. Learn the current rules; this lesson stops at an unfunded wallet.
Locate the setup boundary
Read the official guide or optionally create a new unfunded wallet.
- Locate the download and Create a new wallet instructions.
- Identify the point where the guide moves from key setup to funding.
- Stop before that funding step and write why a public address might not yet exist on the ledger.
