Original research has examined links between cryptocurrency promotion, automated social accounts, and organized pump activity. These studies describe particular datasets and periods; their reported proportions should not be generalized to every platform or every current token. The important mechanism is that visible activity can be much larger than the number of independent people behind it.
Suppose an analytics dashboard counts 10,000 positive posts without identifying that many repeat the same text or come from a coordinated cluster. The dashboard may accurately count posts while overstating broad enthusiasm. Deduplicating messages, examining account creation patterns, and distinguishing unique authors from impressions can improve interpretation. None of those signals alone proves wrongdoing: genuine communities also coordinate announcements, and legitimate services use automated accounts to publish useful information.
Trace a claim to its original evidence rather than treating repeated screenshots as corroboration. Check whether a promoter discloses compensation, whether engagement comes from unrelated participants, and whether the message asks readers to act before verifying facts. A bot score is itself a model output with errors and should not become an unsupported accusation against a person. Treat engagement metrics as evidence about distribution, not evidence that a project's assets, revenue, or investment claims are real.
