อ่านต้นฉบับภาษาอังกฤษ →The wallet is your window
Explain what changes when you open a different wallet app or network.
Start with three labels in the margin: wallet, account, network. They do different jobs.
- Wallet: prepare
- Account: authorize
- Network: record
An app that helps you act
A wallet is an interface for interacting with an account. The account's balance and other state belong to the blockchain's record. Opening the app lets you inspect that account; it does not move the account into your device.
An address is not a password
A public address identifies an account. A private key can authorize actions for a key-controlled account. Ethereum also has contract accounts with programmed behavior. Networks maintain separate state: an address that looks familiar does not prove you are viewing the right network.
Draw your three boxes
Use paper or an empty note. No wallet installation is needed.
- Draw a wallet window, an account and a network.
- Put 'public address' beside the account and 'private authorization' behind it.
- Add a second network. Give it a separate balance box.
You can explain where the balance is recorded and what gives permission to move it.
Name the network before naming the balance.
