Explain why a traditional Stellar asset is more than its ticker.
Stellar assets can share a code while being issued by completely different accounts.
- Asset code + issuer
- Account's trustline
- Balance and holding limit
Use the full asset identity
Traditional issued assets need an asset code and issuer account. Native XLM needs neither an issuer nor trustline. A familiar code alone does not establish who issued a token.
A trustline is an opt-in
A trustline permits holding an issued asset, subject to limits and applicable authorization. It does not certify the issuer or guarantee redemption. Investigate those claims independently.
Compare two pretend assets
Use fictional asset codes and placeholder issuers, with no wallet action.
- Write two assets with the same code but different issuer labels.
- Explain why they are distinct.
- Draw a trustline to only one and label its holding limit.
An asset code alone is not enough to identify a Stellar balance.
Read the issuer before considering the asset's name or price.
