Choose the phrase-based path
Install through MetaMask's official download route. Choose Create a new wallet, then Secret Recovery Phrase. Preserve the 12 words offline in their original English order; do not translate them. Follow the password prompts. Social-login setup is a different recovery path.
Check Ethereum and its address
Select Ethereum. In the extension, copy its address under the account menu; on mobile, the copy icon opens the network-address list. Compare the copied public address with the wallet and stop unfunded.
A public and private checklist
Observe the provider's guide, or optionally create a new unfunded wallet.
- Draw separate public-address and private-backup spaces.
- Write what should never enter a classroom answer.
- Name the network you would check before receiving.
Setup does not require a payment or sharing secrets.
Keep recovery offline; check Ethereum and its public address.
