Read costs and object changes
Separate a gas budget from the final transaction effects.
A useful Sui transaction review includes costs and changes, not just a success label.
Account for computation and storage
Sui charges for executing a transaction and storing the objects it creates or changes. Storage rebates can affect the final net cost when storage is released. A gas budget is a spending limit for the proposed work, not a promise that the whole budget will be charged.
Follow the effects
An object's metadata includes the transaction that last affected it, and transactions connect input objects with resulting objects. In an explorer, inspect the transaction digest, status, sender and object changes together. Check whether an object was transferred, created or modified instead of assuming every displayed object is a payment.
Read a completed interaction
Observe a public Sui transaction using an explorer linked from a wallet or official resource.
- Note the network and transaction digest.
- List the displayed gas charge, storage cost and rebate if available.
- Describe one object change in a sentence without connecting a wallet.
The object changes show what the transaction did; the gas fields show its resource cost.
A successful transaction still deserves a close reading of its effects.
