Broadcast is not confirmation
Distinguish a submitted payment from a confirmed one.
A transaction identifier helps you follow a payment. It does not prove the recipient has accepted it.
- Broadcast
- Unconfirmed
- Included in a block
- Further confirmations
Watch the transaction's state
A broadcast transaction may be unconfirmed. Inclusion in a block gives its first confirmation; later blocks add confirmations. Acceptance requirements depend on the recipient and risk involved.
Read the fee estimate
Fees relate to transaction data size, not simply the amount sent. Check the current estimate, recipient and amount. Bitcoin.org's resources link to mempool.space for observing public transactions.
Inspect a public record
Observe only; do not send a transaction.
- Open mempool.space through Bitcoin.org's resources.
- Choose a transaction from a recent block.
- Locate its outputs and confirmation information.
A block inclusion is evidence that a broadcast alone lacks.
Use transaction status and the recipient's policy, not a countdown.
