Check the fee components
Cardano fees depend on serialized transaction size, with additional costs for script execution and reference scripts where applicable. Current protocol parameters determine the calculation. Read the wallet's ADA fee estimate rather than memorizing a universal fee; adding inputs, outputs or scripts changes the work involved.
Find the actual destination
Inputs reference earlier outputs; new outputs show where value goes next. Separate recipient outputs from change and match the transaction hash and network. In script transactions, review collateral separately from the recipient payment.
Annotate a public transaction
Observe an already published Cardano transaction. Do not sign or send anything.
- Open a transaction from a public Cardano explorer linked by a wallet or network resource.
- Label its input references, output destinations and fee.
- Identify a possible change output, noting that ownership cannot always be proven from the page alone.
Explorer totals need interpretation; all outputs are not payments to other people.
Check destination outputs and costs independently.
